A passion for good wine and for the land, passed down from generation to generation, from 1971 till today.
Deep family feeling, which moves the heart of the company and opens to the world with the innovative spirit of the new generations.
In 1971 Sergio Tombacco, motivated by a strong passion, inherited from his father Ludovico, founded Tenuta San Giorgio on a beautiful, fertile land named after the river Piave, after rows of vines, which had been established there for more than a century.
Sergio is the last of the sons, Giorgio, Valerio and Marco. In 2004 the company was awarded the first gold medal at Vinitaly for the company’s products.
From the unique conformation of the pebbles in the Piave region to the ideal
microclimate typical of the Euganean Hills, the vineyards are located in two zones with completely different terroirs that give the wines heterogeneous, organoleptic characteristics.
85 hectares of land dedicated to the art of viticulture, rich in nutrient conformation,
which favor the growth of aromatic bunches of grapes from which a selection of wines is born.
The Macerada vineyards are located on the largest river island in Italy and among the largest in Europe, where nature still thrives undisturbed and where water is the element that dominates a vast, open landscape stretching to the peaks of the Dolomites on the horizon.
From these mountains, with their many years of history, come the smooth pebbles that give the unique characteristics of this land. The terroir of Grave di Papadopoli is also rich in notches and gravel, giving minerality and aroma to the wines of this land.
In the heart of the Eugan Hills, a natural, well-ventilated amphitheater with an optimal temperature range opens between the gentle, lush valleys of volcanic origin. This enchanting setting is home to the Arcua Petrarca vineyards, strategically located in the southwest to take full advantage of the exceptional microclimate.
Particularly suited to red grape wines, the Arqua Petrarca terroir, together with the light and air that the area enjoys, provides the rows of vines with the perfect food to produce juicy, aromatic fruit. The grapes are carefully selected to be transformed into a range of high quality wines.
